BookPeople is proud to welcome author Kim Barnes of Moscow, Idaho at 7 p.m., Tuesday, May 29. Her new novel “In the Kingdom of Men” is an exploration of Americans living in 1960s Saudi Arabia. The book received starred reviews in both Kirkus and Publishers Weekly. It is also on Real Simple magazine’s list of 7 Addictive Summer Novels, and on the Christian Science Monitor’s list of “15 summer novels we think you’ll like.” Ms. Barnes will be available to sign copies. The book goes on sale on May 29th nationwide.

Kim Barnes has received the 2009 PEN Center USA Literary Award for Fiction for her book A Country Called Home and it was named a best book of 2008 by The Washington Post, The Kansas City Star, and The Oregonian. She is a recipient of the PEN/Jerard Award for an emerging woman writer of nonfiction. Her first memoir, In the Wilderness, was nominated for the 1997 Pulitzer Prize.
