Bookpeople Co-sponsors Spring Reading Series Bookpeople is proud to welcome poet Willis Barnstone with Robert Wrigley, 7:30-9 p.m., Wednesday, March 21 and writer Brady Udall 7:30-9 p.m., Wednesday, March 28 for the Spring Reading Series in March. The series is co-sponsored by Bookpeople and the University of Idaho’s English Department and MFA Creative Writing Program.
Willis Barnstone is one of America’s most prolific and highly regarded translators and poets. He is the author of over seventy books of poetry, translation, literary criticism, biblical scholarship and memoir. His most recognized works include From This White Island, 501 Sonnets, Algebra of Night, The Secret Reader, The Gnostic Bible, and Restored New Testament. A Guggenheim and Fulbright fellow, he has four times been nominated for the Pulitzer Prize in Poetry, and has had four Book of the Month Club selections. His poetry has appeared in The Paris Review, The New Yorker, Poetry Magazine, The New York Review of Books, and The Times Literary Supplement. New books include Essential Gnostic Scriptures and The Poems of Jesus Christ. Mr. Barnstone is a Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Comparative Literature at Indiana University. He lives in Oakland, California.
