A couple more weeks

We’re getting lots of inquiries now about when we’re opening. It must be because the front is all painted and the new bamboo floor is in. We feel your anticipation and are working as fast as we can!! We don’t have an exact date but it will be within a couple of weeks. There are still lots of things to do including finishing and assembling the shelves, painting the walls in the back area, installing the carpet in the back, finishing and painting the children’s room and installing the floor, setting up shelves in the children’s area, painting the bathroom, building the front service counter, setting up the computer with its POS and inventory management software, learning to use said system, ordering books, receiving books, and putting them on the shelves.

Plan on a mid-February opening. In the meantime, you can start adding things to your calendar: thanks to Kim Barnes at the University of Idaho, I’ve got my fingers crossed that we’ll be hosting the award-winning Anthony Doerr at Bookpeople on Thursday, April 26, at 8 pm. I just got a copy of his short story collection, Memory Wall, and have been happily transported into strange yet familiar worlds, in the company of characters who are both strong as steel and fragile as a spider’s web. We’ll be sure to have a pile of Memory Wall and his other books (he has one about living in Rome for a year with his wife and newborn twins!!) available when we open, and then you can get Mr. Doerr to sign it in April. See you all very soon.

Anthony Doerr is coming to Bookpeople of Moscow in April.
